WELCOME TO SF STATE VOLLEYBALL CAMPS
On March 29, 2016 Matt Hoffman was named the seventh head coach in SF State volleyball history. Hoffman joins the Gators after an extremely successful three year stint as an assistant at Wichita State, the last two as the top assistant, where he helped guide the Shockers to two Missouri Valley Conference Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
In three years at Wichita State he helped the Shockers go 77-24, winning two Missouri Valley Conference titles, with two MVC Tournament Championships and two NCAA Tournament Appearances. In three seasons the Shockers averaged 25 wins per season and boasted a 74.3 winning percentage tops in the conference over that three year period. During this stretch, the Shockers had four AVCA All-Americans, Four AVCA All-Midwest Region honorees, 11 All-MVC honorees and 11 Academic All-Conference honorees.
Prior to Wichita State, he served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Stanford from 2010-2012. While at Stanford, he helped the Cardinal to three NCAA Tournaments and two Elite Eight appearances and two conference championships. He also coached five All-Americans, a Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year, and 11 All Pac-12 honorees.
He assisted with the offense during the 2012 season and ran statistical and video software in 2010 and 2011 to aid in scouting and team performance. He also assisted in practices and matches and served as a staff member during Stanford volleyball camps from 2005-2010.
From 2009-13, he was the head coach for the Vision Volleyball Club in Los Gatos, Calif. During his time with Vision, he served as a head coach to some of the younger teams, and served as the assistant coach to the 18 Gold team that won the 18 Open Bronze medal in 2011 and 2012.
He served as camp director and owner of the Homestead Volleyball Camp from 2009-11, was a physical education teacher at Homestead High School from 2006-13, and boy's club volleyball coach for Central Coast Volleyball Club from 2005-10.
From 2007-09, he was the girl's varsity volleyball coach at Homestead High School in Cupertino, Calif. He led the 2008 team to the state tournament and finished runner-up, while also being Central Coast Section and NorCal champions. In 2007, the team was Central Coast Section champions and NorCal runners-up.
Matt was the girl's varsity volleyball coach at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif., from 2005-06 and the assistant coach for Club Yahoo 15's in San Jose in 2005. He was also the girl's varsity volleyball coach at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, Calif., from 2002-04.
A local product, Hoffman grew up in nearby Cupertino where he attended Homestead High School where he lettered in basketball and volleyball. Upon graduation he attended San Jose State where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology in 2003.
While at San Jose State, Hoffman was a member of the men's volleyball team.
Hoffman is married to his wife Noel, they have two children, a daughter, McKenna and a son, Owen.
